Do-it-yourself home security system?
Looking for a source for do it yourself security system, mostly consisting of a couple of cameras, video monitor for my kitchen, maybe a motion detector or two, and glass breakage detector. I've visited supercircuits.com, which is awesome for the video systems, but nothing for motion detector or glass breakage. My husband and I are both electrical and techie inclined, so I know we can hook everything up the way we want it, I just can't seem to find one good source to buy it all to ensure it will all work together. Wanting to find some base package where you can then add this, that, the next thing. Any suggestions ?

Can a home made infra red camera allow you to see infra red beams used in home security?
i was on youtube and i saw a video that taught me how to make a night vision camera . to do this you need 4 red celofane lens cut outs and 6 blue celofane lens cut outs placed in the lens in a pattern of blue red blue red blue red. it said that it would prevent all light from exiting the lens except for infrared beams. than if you point the infra red beams at somthing and look at the same object with a digital camera made in the seventies that can see infrared beams you can use it as night vision. my question however is, does home security and motion sensors use infrared beams to sence movement in a room and if so if you use just the infrared sencing camera could you see the infrared beam and avoid it ? im not intrerested in using this so i can use this to rob people im just curious. best wishes
I lost my code for my brinks home security safe?
i lost my pass code and manuel for my brinks security safe and i was wondering if anyone knew how to reset it? i have my key, but i dont know where to go from here. the safe is about 1.5feet by 1.5 feet with an electric keypad on the front. does anyone know how i could get into this safe? any help would be appreciated thank you

Deactivated home security alarm constantly goes off?
Hi, we have a home security alarm installed but canceled monitoring about 9 years ago. A few weeks ago, the unit itself the keypad started beeping nonstop like it would if it was active and you entered the house, while it waited for you to enter the code . We don't even remember the code, so we just hit random buttons and it stops. It goes off several times a day and is unbelievably annoying because it's really loud and one of us has to stop whatever we're doing and walk to the laundry room to stop it. Today it has been going off almost literally nonstop. It will last a few minutes or seconds and then go off again. A few times today maybe only once or twice before our full house alarm outside has gone off for about 2 seconds before shutting itself off. It's also affecting our phone system when the full alarm goes off because the system was supposed to call the alarm company when the alarm went off and all that. It's a really pathetic situation, to be honest. Anyway, how do I stop all this? What's the problem that caused it to " wake up" after 9 years? ThanksBy the way, the unit is a Moose Z800RE.

Does anyone know about home security. I want to hook up a motion detector to a camera and then to to a computer.Is that at all possible or are there other ways of capturing the " bad guy" on a PC hard drive?
